When the moon wanes my energy draws inward and I often feel overly sensitive. Practices that connect me to a sense of pleasure and sensuality always help me to maintain a connection between my mind and my body at this time and so I try to make space for them when I notice myself feeling off in any way. This is a very simple recipe for a waning moon time salt scrub that can also be very nice to use when you are pre- menstrual. It includes grounding, uplifting, and heart soothing essential oils and is a joy to make.
- 2 cups fine sea salt
- 1/2 cup coarse pink Himalayan sea salt
- 2-3 cup almond, apricot kernel oil, or unscented liquid coconut oil
- 15 drops jatamansi or Indian spikenard oil
- 10 drops clary sage oil
- 6 drops frankincense oil
- optional 6-8 drops ginger oil to create a more warming blend
- optional 1/4 cup of dried rose petals, lavender, or blue cornflowers for added beauty
Mix your essential oils into your carrier oil, feeling free to play with the ratios to achieve your desired scent blend. (I come from the kitchen witch school of herbal medicine/aromatherapy/cooking and rarely use exact measurements for anything! )
Mix your oil blend into your salt and flower mix, using a fork to break up clumps. Keep adding oil until the salt is well coated and clumps together. Again feel free to add more oil if you prefer an oiler mix, or less if you prefer it dry.
Pour it into a wide mouthed jar to keep by your tub or shower and turn bathing into a sensual ritual by massaging into wet skin.
